Telemetry and “Green”
29 July, 2008 (01:32) | Strategy | By: Mary Lou Perry, MEI
Everyone is going ‘green’ these days and vending customers are no exception. They are looking for partners who can help their business move forward as a more responsible corporate citizen. A vending operator can be a clear contributor to this ’sustainability’ effort by incorporating telemetry technology into how they run their operations. By only visiting machines that require service, an operator can dramatically reduce their energy consumption. Whether an operator monitors sales or alarms via telemetry, nothing is more efficient or more ‘green’ than only visiting machines that truly require servicing.
So incorporate into your sales and operations strategy the use of telemetry to not only save your business ‘green’ cash, but help differentiate your company as recognizing the importance of going ‘green’ for your customers.

What kind of reduction in site visits can you achieve presuming your vending machines are selling through every couple of weeks? With diesel fuel at over $4 per gallon, I would love to understand more about actual savings you can get.
thanks

Phil, thank you for your question and interest. Operators using telemetry are reporting about a 25% improvement in their route efficiencies. So 1 in 4 trucks are generally taken off the road. One can assume with those route efficiency improvements, you could expect about a 25% reduction in site visits.
